Identified Flying Objects

IFOs (Identified Flying Objects) have nothing to do with UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects). My definition of an IFO: A disc shaped aerospace VTOL craft made by humans. It should have these flight characteristics: Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL), hovering, and flight in any direction.

Most IFOs build so far have poor flight characteristics, but note that most were build a long time ago, before the computer age and modern materials.

Chemical rocket engines, that repel on onboard-mas, will never bring us far into space. To fly more efficient than traditional aircraft and rockets, new propulsion techniques need to be invented first, and therefore a better understanding of elementary things like: energy, space, mass, gravity, and maybe even; psychology.

IFO picture library
A large photo collection of disc shaped VTOL aircraft, that where ment to become a 'real flying saucer '. Some designs are recent, but most are very old. Imagine these designs though, if they were build again today, using the latest: knowledge, materials, and computers.

	Bladless jet engine design Normal engines are: heavy, complex, and very expensive. This jet engine is: light, simple, and cheap. Normal engines are hard to fit in a coanda effect flying disc, while this type fits in just fine.

Beyond lightspeed
We could travel with the speed of light, when we can turn ourselves into light, or when we code light with our information. But, the speed of light is too slow for real space exploration. How can we get from A to B much faster than light?

	The Coanda effect One of the most common ways to design a VTOL disc, is by using the Coanda effect. It's clear that it works, but how exactly does it work well? Page 1 and Page 2
	Rockets Ah, rockets. Very impressive, the only option for thrust in space at this time. But I don't see a bright future for this type of thrust.

	Wings How do wings work? The popular explanation is false! How do wings really work?
	Aerodynamics Wow, this is complex. As old as the wind, and still full of mysteries. Implosion and Vortex are two faces, interesting for VTOL.
	Buoyant lift This buoyant force acts naturally on everything immersed in a fluid in a gravitational field.
